Mumbai, erstwhile Bombay, is the capital of the state of Maharashtra, India. Mumbai lies at the mouth of Ulhas River off the western coast of India in the coastal region known as Konkan. It is divided into two districts :- The Greater Mumbai District and the Mumbai Subarban District. The Greater Mumbai District covers the area from Colaba to Sion on eastern coast and from Colaba to Mahim on western coast of it. Four lakes named Vihar , Vaitarna, Tulsi and Tansa supply water to Mumbai. It also has three small rivers within the city limits originating in the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. Forth one is larger which is called "Mithi river." The coastline of the city is with numerous creeks and bays. The eastern coast of Mumbai is covered with large mangrove swamps, rich in biodiversity. The western coast is sandy and rocky. Though the capital of india is Delhi, its financial capital is Mumbai with a long Historical background. Mumbai is India's largest city. Climate:- The climate of the city, being in the tropical zone and near the Arabian Sea, is classified into three seasons — the summer(March-June), the monsoon(June-September) and the winter(November- February). However, during March-June and September-October, high temperature of over 32 °C is experienced. Buses are used for commuting short to medium distances while train fares are more economical for long distance commutes. The BEST (external link to its website) runs about 3,400 buses ferrying about 4.5 million passengers over 340 routes. Its fleet consists of single-decker, double-decker, vestibule, low-floor, disabled-friendly, and air-conditioned buses. The BEST administration has introduced in its bus fleet new buses specially for sight seeing for tourist plying both on road and in the water. Recently, the BEST(external link to its website) adminstration has introduced one day pass system enabling the commuters to travel economically. This one day pass can be purchased from the conductor of the bus at Rs.25/- to travel in the area either in Greater Mumbai or Suburban Mumbai during working days and on Sundays or on the public holidays the pass worth Rs. 25/- is valid all over Mumbai till mid-night of the day, the pass is purchased. The pass worth Rs. 30/- is valid to traval all over Mumbai. However, one day pass facility is not valid for A.C. and express busses. The express busses are idetified from their yellow coloured number plates of its route while the ordinery busesse have white route number plates

Auto rickshaws operate in the suburban areas of Mumbai. Rickshaws being run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) are the main form of hired transport.
